Exploring the passage of time, the traces left by encounters, friendship, forgetfulness, and absence.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Between memory and motion, this theme questions our relationship to objects, places, others\u2014and fleeting moments.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

PASSAGES is the transition between what was and what is to come, a space between two worlds where the echoes of the past meet the promises of the future.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Like photography, which freezes a moment of reality while leaving room for interpretation and imagination, PASSAGES invites us to capture those thresholds, those invisible in-betweens where the image becomes memory, trace, and transformation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It all started at a meeting with Kinuko Asano, director of the gallery \u00c9cho 119, and the decision to entrust her with the curatorship of an exhibition that brought together five Japanese artists for the 2024 edition.<\/p>\n

Out of discussions with the artists, their proposals, and the omnipresence of the everyday in their work, this idea of Transcending the commonplace emerged, the theme of our 15th edition. Around that idea we assembled different bodies of work that are part of the \u201chumanity of the moment,\u201d[1] a concept that makes the artist an observer, a researcher.
